MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. J. &./ Evans, S.M., dealt withpolice cases at the Magistrate's Court tihis morning. Robert Henderson, a second-offending inebriate, was 'fined the amount of his bail (20s).
Marion Ethel Roche (Mr. W. G. Mcl : lish) was granted a separation order against her husband. ' William Roche (Mr. A. B. Sievwright) by Mr. Evans, S.M., yesterday afternoon.
Henri Arthur Hirt was charged before Messrs. J. Piper and J. H. Burn, J.P.s, at the Petone Police Court this morning, with the theft of £40 from the Belle Vue Hotel, Lower Hutt, the property of the licensee, Mr. M. J. O'Halloran. Accused was a visitor to the hotel on 9th July, the date on which the money was alleged to have been stolen; and on 10th July a debt was paid by accused in Petone with money, a £5 note of which was alleged to have been identified as being part of the stolen property. Accused pleaded not guilty, reserved his defence, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
