UNREST IN INDIA

THE BOLSHEVIK MENACE AGENTS ACTIVE THROUGHOUT THE EAST FIRM AND SYMPATHETIC RULE . WANTED. £?■ .(UHIIBB KtISS ASSOCIATION.—COPIRKHI.) . . , (REDTBR'S TELEGRAM.) '•' j , (Received June 17, 9 a.m.)' LONDON, 16th June. ; The India Office declares that the. Boisbeviks are doing their utmost to stir up trouble in India. Agents are active throughout the East, and the general feeling of unsettlement affords a congenial atmosphere for propaganda. It is well known, that there exists at Moscow a .special .department for the direction of Bolshevik activities in the East. Whenever possible ' the native population are incited against the Western" Governments. Britain is held up as a, particular enemy. The Indian Government is fully aware of these efforts; and is actively,, engaged with counter measures. It .cannot be said that there ..is no menace in India in fact. It is, . however, 1 by no means as great as it was. The Indian Government is satisfied that if Bolshevism in India has not been killed, it has been scotched. Ths position calls, not for alarmist measures,,but for a continuance of firm, wise, and sympathetic rule. [A message from The Times, published yesterday, stated ': —lt is authoritatively announced that the Government of India is not aware of any grounds for alarmist reports foretelling widespread Bolshevik risings in, India in the- autumn.]
