MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL
At to-day's meeting of the Makara County Council, Councillor Windley was congratulated on taking over the chairmanship, Councillor S. Bowler expressing the opinion, on behalf of the councillors, that he would make a very able chairman. In thanking the council, Councillor Windley said that matters of importance were continually coming before the council, nnd while there was a desire to hurry through with business, there were certain matters which needed careful consideration. "The business of the council is increasing," he said, "and the indications are that we are becoming an important body." A motion was carried expressing appreciation of the services rendered by ex-Councillor S. Bryant.
