WAIHI, This Day.
The Hon. J. G. Contes, ' Minister for Public Works, passed through Waihi this morning, en route to Aucliland. Ho was waited on by the members ■of the Borough Council, when ths requirements of the district were placed before him. The Minister, in reply, pointed out that there was an acute shortage in steel and other building materials, but with, tlie increased shiDp'vnsc facilrtieb the position would be reEevod. Afterwards the Minister left for Thames, and will meet local bodies at other places en route. -
