For the first day of the Gjsborne Racine Club's Steeplechase Meeting the totalisator handled £11,873, as compared with £16,997 on the first day last' year, a decrease of £5124. Concluding results : Gisborne Steeplechase, of 400 soys; three miles.—Brunswick, 9.13 (Poulgrain), 1; Fagot, 9.7, 2. The only starters. Won easily by ten lengths. Time, 6min 38sec. Hack Flat Handicap, of 200 soys; seven furlongs.— Glengyle, 9.13 (Jennings), 1; Tieki, 9.10, 2; Prince Randal 10 8, 3. Also started : Persian King 10.6, Orateur 9.10, Thebes 9.7, Crevasse 8.2, Mumix 9.0. Won by a short head. Time, lmin 31sec. Tramway Steeplechase, of 200 soys; two miles.—Juan!, 9.7 (Horn), 1; Gay Boy, 9.9, 2; Con, 11.10, 3. The only starters. Won by five lengths. Time, 4min 12sec. Winter Oats, of 250 soys; on© mile and a quarter.—Cleft, 10.8, (S. Howard), Orateur, 9.0( , (M'Carten), dead heat; Dribble, 11.12, 3. Also started : Acquittal 9.10, Pat'etonga 9.6. The third horse was a length and a half from the deadheaters. Time, 2min ISsec. After the Flying Handicap' the stewards held an inquiry into the running of Lionskin. After evidence had been heard, it was decided that, the stewards being satisfied that D. A. Poulgrain had deliberately pulled Lionskin, he is disqualified* for two years.
