A MOTOR SMASH
,-iA serious motor smash'occurred at the corner of . Adelaid'e-roajl and iyDu'fferihstreet shortly after'-.mid.nightvlast night, but by great good- fqritune' neither the driver of tn'e car, 1 which'was the property of the A.B.C. Motor Company, Ltd., nor a gentleman who-accompanied him was seriously injured.
;;The facts as stated by the police-and others who- examined the car after the aqcident are that the machine was being driven in Adelaide-road at about 12.15 a.m. alia very fast rate. When the corner was rjjached the back wheels skidded ;in ■a' zigzag- fashion for about twenty-five yards, -and the car plunged on to the footpath at the Basin Reserve, struck an iron rubbish receptacle, and ■ turned completely over. One ba-ck wheel was torn off and reduced to splinters, the mudguard and Tuning boards were torn about, and the steering wheel was completely smashed. The hand-brake was found to I'".'be'; Hard .on, "and the engine was engage'd'in top-gear. ' '" ■
