BLACKBERRYING PARTY MISSING

The police have had their hands full recently as a result of a sequence of tra-' gedies or strange disappearances. No trace has been found of Mr. J. F. Hursthouse, who disappeared from York Bay some weeks ago, and-the most active inquiries have failed to throw any further light on the finding of the body of Mrs. Hebbend in the harbour last Friday. Another strange disappearance has now been reported—that of a blackberrying party. Mr. William Jackson,' of Constablerstrest, set out on Saturday with his motor-cycle with his nine-year-old fon, and a little girl named Byrne, aged ten years, a3 passengers in the side-car, to go blackberrying, "presumably in or about the Upper Hut-t- district, and since his departure no word has been heard of him, the children, or the motor-cycle. Inquiries are being made throughout the Hutt and Wainui-o-mata districts to-day. The police will be pleased to hear from anyone- who has any knowledge of the movements of the missing party.
