NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL; The quarterly meeting of tile CoTincil of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association was held last night, Mr. A. M. G-ore presiding. Other members present were: Messrs. A. G. Henderson, G. Gore, D. M. Kean, B, Keesing, W. Melody, F. F. Gradey.C. G. Turner, P. & Pasley, H. C. Murray, G. F. Wilson, and Lieut. E. Beeves. The action of the Management Committee in including 1 junior events at the championship meeting was approved, and notice was given to alter the rules to permit such events being held in the I future. ' It was reported that the Wilding Memorial Fund had now been appropriated in purchasing two silver cups for the junior championship events and to procuring a perpetual challenge shield for interprovincial competition. It was resolved that the subscriptions from affiliated associations should be: Twopence per capita on the first 1000, one penny per capita in excess of 1000, and less a rebate of 50 per cent, on the amount,so computed on a membership to be returned as at 51st March, 1920 The resignations of Messrs. R. N. K. Swanston and M. F. Instone from the Management Committee .were accepted with regret. Messrs. F. P. Wilson and B. Keesing were chosen 'to '.fill the vacancies. ' '. . . The council decided to grant Auckland 50 per cent, of a sum of £10. 6s 6d. ex,-" pended in the entertainment of Messrs. Brookes and Patterson, but it was stated that no liability was recognised, and in future sanction must be obtained'before expenditure is incurred on behalf of the New Zealand Association. An application from the Wellington Association for a subsidy of £3 3s for a schools tournament was approved. On the motion of Mr. Kean, the council affirmed the principle that in future drawings for championship meetings players from the same district should not be drawn to meet each other in the first round if possible. It was further moved by Mr. G. Gore that in the event of any alteration in the"" draw provision should be made to avoid the' better players meeting in tho first round. This was negatived.
