RAID ON GAMBLING PLANT
TWO MEN FIRED. (II TBIrORAJH.—PRBSB ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, 30th March. A raid made by the police on a gambling plant at a sports meeting held recently by the Huarau Tunnel workers had its sequel in Court at Maungaturoto. .The plant, which comprised a roulette wheel and table, crown and anchor, and roller game, was worked by two men, each of whom was fined £25, in default two months' imprisonment. The gambling plant was ordered to be destroyed. The Magistrate remarked that with gambling concerns of this sort nourishing it was | no wonder men wanted an increase in wages.
