ANXIOUS FOR BUSINESS
An Austrian who is apparently very anxious to do business on any terms whatever has -written as follows to the Wellington , Chamber of Commerce. "The difficulty to obtain raw materials in order to maintain the fabrication compels me to seek business connections with merchants of your country I propose as follows :—(1) You send me raw materials, which I work up to readymade articles at cost prices those goods ■which will pay you. You allow me participate at any proceeds from sale. I depose any sum in German Austrian crowns at a bank you name as equivalent to the sent raw materials,. and as surety till you are in possession of the goods; (2) you open a credit in your currency against _.large consignments; (3) you send -me orders to be made as per samples at fixed prices paying onethird in advance in your currency; (4) you send me victuals against my articles ; \b) if you know a place which is suited for the introduction of the above industry I am ready to set up. a fabric and instruct people on suitable terms. Any other combinations is welcome to me." The raw materials wanted are horns, etc., and the articles offered are combs and such goods. Such terms would he' tempting were the -letter not written from "Wien" (Vienna) and signed by "E. Deutsch."
