MISHAPS IN THE HARBOUR
Four young men in a 16-foot half-decker came to grief yesterday while sailing in mid-harbour. _ Their boat capsized, with all sails sot, in the channel not very far from Somes Island. Clinging- to. the bottom of the bbat they drifted for about three-quarters of an hour in the/direction of the harbour entrance, when their perilous condition was seen by tho yacht Viola. The crow of tho latter picked up tho four young men, who wero by this time in a state of exhaustion, and brought them on to tho boat harbour. This was about 4.30 p.m. Later in tho evening, when returning from Palliser Bay in bin power-yacht Volante, Mr. H. G. Anderson sighted tho same boat floating bottom upwards near Pinnacle Rock. In ppite of tho heavy wind, a line was made fast to the derelict, and she_was towed, sails and all, to Karaka Bay, where eventually she was made fast to the wharf.
. Another accident occurred at Lowry Bay, where a small yacht capsizod in a sudden equall. The three occupants were rescued by yachts in tho .vicinity. While sailing near Clyde-quay on Saturday afternoon, a small cat boat containing three boys overturned. A dinghy from the boat harbour rescued them.
