Increased railway, tramway, and ferry fares aro anticipated at the New Year to meet the new living wage. ""
[It is estimated that the advances in wageE in New South Wales under the declaration by the Board of Trade setting the living wage at £3 17s, will amount to a huge sum. In the Government departments, the Civil service will benefit to the extent of about £1,000,000 a year, the tramwaymen to between £240,000 and £250,000, and the railwaymen to about £1,750,000.]
