Winds—Moderate to strong southerly winds prevailing and increasing; backing to southeasterly soon northward of Westport and Kaikoura ' . ... i j Barometer—Rise soon, but falling tendency in the far North. / Seas—Rough on the west coast south ol Cape Egmont and between Castlepomt and Kaikoura; moderate elsewhere, but increasing on the eastern coast. Tides—Poor in Cook Swait; good elsewhere. Warning signals for southerly gales are exhibited at Cape Campbell, Stephen Island, Farewell Spit, and Nugget -Point.
