REUNION FOR RETURNED SOLDIERS

The staff of Messrs. Macky, LogaJi, Caldwell, Ltd., tendered a dinner and smoke concert at the Stafford Rooms to their soldier fellow-employees who have returned. Mr. O. H. Young, Wellington director, presided over a gathering which included seventeen returned soldiers. Messrs. P. Laurenson and O. Robinson proposed the toast of "Our Soldier .Fellow-Employees," making feeling reference to Private H. Aston,, Gunner D. Jessen, Sergeant P. G. Talbot, and Private H. S. Kendon, who had lost their lives. Captain H. Pettit, M.C., and Driver H. Marsh responded. The chairman read a telegraphic message from Mr. T. Macky, who sent greetings and the information that the directors had decided to pay a gratuity to all their soldiers, equal to that paid by the Government. The Chairman in his remarks made feeling reference to the late chairman of directors of the compajiy, Mr. J. C. Macky, and his wife, who lost their lives in the Lusitania. The toast of the "Mothers, Wives, and Sisters" was proposed by Mr. Ball, and responded to on behalf of the ladies by Mr. J. A. G. M'Gregor. During the evening selections were played by Mr. A. Williams's Orchestra, and the following contributed to the evening's vocal programme : Messrs. W. O'Laughlin, A. Flavell, L. Logan, R. Jones, J. Taylor, W. Armstrong, J. A. G. M'Gregor, C. Kemp, J. C. Gregory, and W. Tasker.
