SYNOPSIS OF LAST 48 HOURS. An atmospheric depression which passed in the ■ South on Saturday night has since apparently remained stationary between the South Island and the Chatham Islands. Fair weather ruled on Saturday, but cloudiness increased yesterday, and rain has since fallen in many parts of the Dominion. Heavy rain has been reported in' the West Coast and southernmost, districts, and snow on some of the high country of the South Island. Westerly winds, strong to gale, have changed.to southerlies since yesterday, with decreasing force generally. > ( TO-DAY'S WEATHER.
