MIRAMAR'S EFFORT
Miramar's Peace celebrations yesterday consisted cf a procession .of the Miramar and Seatoun children, including the pupils of Scots College, to the Seatoun School grounds, the former being conveyed to the bay in decorated motorcars. A large number of residents gathered in the school grounds, and, after the singing of the National Anthem and "0 God, Our Help in Ages Past," the Mayor (Mr. S. M. Stone) read the Peace Proclamation. The Celebrations Committee, he said, had intended to take the children for a picnic, but, owing to the unsettled weather, this plan had been abandoned. H© urged the children present to remember * the great day they were celebrating. ' The "Recessional" (Kipling)' was then sungi after which Mr. G. H.Uttley, Principal of Scots College, gave a brief resume of, the war. The children subsequently sang "The Bells of Peace," the "Marseillaise," and "God Save the King." At the conclusion of the ceremony each child was presented with a bag of sweets. ■ ■ ■ ■ •.
