The weather is fine for the second day of the National. Dairy Show. There is a largo attendance of the public.
The poultry section opened to-day, and there is an excellent display of fancy and utility birds of all types. In this section there ye 1069 entries, as, against 1051 last year. The first annual competition in connection with tho purebred cattle sale opened to-day. Eighty entries were received for this section, and great interest is being shown in the sale which takes place to-morrow.
There was keen competition for the Evening Post trophy, presented by Messrs. Blundel! Bros., in connection with the a-pple championship. Tho class was open to the whole Dominion for the best collection of oppk's, but combinations of growers or scoiotieiS were not allowed to compete. Thirteen entries wore received from Hawkes Bay, Nelson, the Main Trunk line, and Ofcago. The cb.unpionship was awarded to Bisley Bros., Upper Moutere, who scored 03 points. In addition to tho Post trophy, the winners vrere awarded the Royal 'Horticultural Society medal. James Cushing, West Olive, with 88i points, was second, and Bisley Bros., 88 points, third. ■*■''
