Manawatu opened with the wind - and sun in their favour, and scored nine* points in the first half to the Maoris nil. ■ In the second half the home team showed lack of condition, .and the Maoris ran tteough them, despite desperate rallies by the Manawatu team. The Pioneers won easily by 22 points, to 9. ;
