In the Supreme Court to-day Henry Lauritz Homes, a young man, was charged with theft of a motor-car, valued at £400, also a rug and overcoats, valued at £6 15s, It was alleged that accused took the car from a street in Blenheim and drove to Nelson, and endeavoured to sell it. The defence was that the car was given to accused the "'same evening by a cattle dealer named Keith Robin&6n, who approached him some weeks before, saying he had a motor-car to sell later on. Keith Robinson never materialised. The jury returned a verdict that it found it difficult to believe the accused's story, yet the evidence, of the Crown had not disproved hi 3' story. Therefore, the verdict would be not guilty. NAPIER, Hth June. At the Supreme Court George Waerea, who pleaded guilty to a charge of arson in connection with the burning of Te, Aute College, was sentenced to twelve) months' reformative treatment at Invercargill. Lyell Henry-was charged with indecently assaulting a female aged six years. The jury disagreed, and a new trial was ordered.
