FUNERAL OF SENIOR^SERGEANT CREAN

The' high respect in which the late Senior-Sergoant Crean, of the Mount Cook Police Station, was held among members of the Force, residents of his official district and a, very large circle of friends was evidencod by the lengthy cortege which followed the hearse from his lato residence in Abel Smith-street to the Karori Cemetery this morning.. A short service was conducted at the chapel of St. Mary of Angels, Boulcottstreet', by the Rev. Father Hoare, who also conducted the graveside service. The ball-bearers were Senior-Sergeants Emerson and Willis, and Sergeants M'Loan and Butler, and the parade of tho Forco numbered forty-two sergeants and men under Superintendent' Norwood and Inspector Marsack. A detachment of military police, under Lieutenant Frickl.eton, V.C., also . attended, and there was a very large number of friends and residents of tlie Mount Cook ami other districts, in which the iato SeniorSergeant Crean had acted in his official capacity, including Mr. .T. P. Palmer (Town Clerk), Mr. (J.-Frost, justices of the peace, and ■a- body of epidemic workers, with whom Senior-Sergeant Crean had been closely associated during the influenza epidemic.
