ST. THOMAS'S CHURCH

The annual report of the wardens and vestry of St. Thomas's Church states that tho sendees have been well maintained, and the satisfactory state of the finances are proof of the loyal support of many parishioners. The report continues :—"The church grounds bazaar was an unqualified success, and already the environment of the church shows great improvement. The vicarage debt has been reduced by a donation of £25, and now it stands at £255. _ It will be desirable to repaint the building as soon as practicable. St. Cuthbert's committee is to be recommended for its energy and foresight, resulting in the purchase of a house in Stirling-street for the -assistant curate, the painting of the^chmchroom by voluntary labour, and the reduction .of their debt by £95, which reduces it to £200. Maintaining the services has been most difficult for the-Vicar, who, however, appreciates the loyal assistance of the committe° and the several clergy and lay readers. Two more beautiful stained* glass windows have been placed in position, and %ye are most grateful to the anonymous "Occasional Worshipper" who generously donated them. A fund for a similar work of ait for the babtistry window has already been started. The hydraulic-blower for the organ has not been completed, owing to the war precluding obtaining the necessary motor. We hope this will soon be obtainable, and the necessary provision for the expenditure will be made."
