MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Several first-offending inebriates were dealt with in a lenient manner by Mr. F. V.Frazer, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court to-day. On a charge of stealing two tons of slack, valued at £3, the property of the Westport Coal Company, Archibald West was remanded for a week. Bail was allowed in the sum of £25.
Two members of the crew of the liner Port Hacking—Walter Albert Birkett and Eric Christenson—were charged with absenting themselves from their ship without leave. They were each convicted and fined £2, with 7s costs, jn default fourteen days' imprisonment, provided. they return to their vessel.
