COMPENSATION CLAIM
JUDGMENT FOR DEFENDANT.
The Court of Arbitration has filed its judgment in the compensation claim, of Robina Jessie Spence Lee v. The Taranaki Farmera' Meat Company; a widow's claim for compensation. Lee, her husband, was employed by the defendant company as a labourer and carpenter, and while engaged in his duties he slipped and fell, sustaining injury to his head. Of this he complained for a little while, but was able to resume work a day or two later. Some little time afterwards he developed grave symptoms and became vory ill, eventually dying. While it was admitted that he suffered from cerebral haemorrhage, medical evidence on the subject was somewhat conflicting, and, especially in view_ of the fact that no post mortem examination was held, the Court was unable to find any causal connection between the accident and the death. Under the • circumstances the Court could * only find a verdict in favour of the defendant company but did not think the case w_"T>rre -in which costs should be allowed.
