The drivers, after an adjournment, stated that they could not accept less than Is 7d an hour.
The. Commissioner stated that the employees might agree, to £3 6s for a week of 48 hours and Is 3d V 1 hour overtime.
Mr. Pryor said thi% would put the employers in a very tight corner. It meant an increase of 13s od for one-horse drivers and 18s 6d, for two-horse drivers. The additional expense of up to £100,000 per year to the Dominion employers would, have to be passed on to the public. He questioned the 48 hours proposal, on which the discussion is proceeding.
