CORPORATION STAFF PICNIC
The annual picnic of the Wellington City Corporation Staff was held at Day's Bay yesterday, in weather which was marred by showers. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) and the Mayoress, and principal officers of the council were present. During the day there were games and sports of all descriptions, especially for the children, who were catered for liberally with toys. In the afternoon, as the jweather was not suitable for outside entertainment, a dance was held in the pavilion. Music was provided by an orchestra under the leadership of Mr. Whitleyy and this part of the picnic was voted a great success. Following are the results of the adults sports : Egg and spoon race : Miss Farquhar 1, Mrs. Radcliffe 2.
Cigarette race : Mrs. Ryan 1, Mrs Bruce 2.
Nail driving : Mrs. Pine 1, Mrs. Mackenzie 2.
Ladies' Handicap : Miss Holloway 1, Mrs. Menard 2.
Blindfold drawing pig : Mrs. Bruce 1, Miss Godber 2.
Married ladies' race : Mrs. M'Bean 1, Mrs. Ryan 2, Mrs. Hoy 3.
