WELLINGTON COLLEGES
MEETING OF BOARD OF GOVERNORS.
A meeting of the Wellington. College Board of Governors was held this, morning, those present being the Chairman (Mr. W. F. Ward), and Messrs'. J. P. Luke,. C.M.G., M. Chapman, T. Forsyth, and W. H. P. Barber.
The balance-sheet showed a balance at the bank of £1061 11s 2d, with £1000 on iixed deposit.
The Chairman reported that Miss C. Shields, M.A., had been appointed a junior assistant at the Girls' College.
Mr. Forsyth raised the question of the foes to bo charged for attendance at the. primary department. It appeared that as there would only be 30 pupils this year, a.3 against 40' last year, the fees would have to be increased. The primary department would have to bo self-support-ing. It was resolved to hold a special meeting to fix the fees when the number of pupils likoly to attend is more exactly known.
The Napier Boys' High School Board of Governors wrote asking for the support of a. resolution in giving an increased 'grant to secondary schools for free places to enable secondary school teachers to obtain increased salaries on account of the higher oo6t of living. It was decided to join the Napier board in making representations to the Government for an increased grant.
