PASSENGERS COAL THE SHIP.
Sufficient coal was taken on the Makura on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to last until Sydney is reached. The volunteer workers included many first class passengers, among them BrigadierGeneral Brand and many other officers of the Australian Forces. The passengers worked in shifts, and there was keen competition to see who could handle the most coal in the shortest time.
