Latest reports about the earthquake state that 400 hundred buildings were destroyed at Oopiapo, which is the capital of the Atacama Province. Three tidal waves destroyed a large portion of Alg iTaltal, to the northwest of Oopiapo. There were several deaths, and many people were injured.
