PRO-GERMAN ACTIVITIES SOME AMAZING DISCLOSURES. (ACSTRAUAN-lICW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received December 7, 2 p.m.) WASHINGTON, 6th December. Mr. Bruce Bielaski, Government Alien Investigator, giving evidence at the Senatorial Inquiry in regard to pro-German activities, said that Count Bernstorfi facilitated the Hearst newspaper correspondents to visit Berlin because he knew Hearst was favourable to Germany's cause. William Bayard Hale, a leading supporter of Mr. Hearst, was also in receipt of a salary from Herr Dernberg, ex-German Minister for Foreign Affairs. The Berlin Foreign Office sent Hale to Rumania with the object of keeping Rumania out of the war.
