Mr. Francis Hutton, of the Wellington Magistrate's Court staff, who is convalescent from an attack of influenza, left for Auckland yesterday for the benefit of his health. Ho has boon granted' leave of absence until'after the New-Year. The many friends of Staff-Paymaster W. .T. A. Brown, R.N., of H.M.S. Philomel, will be pleased to hear that he haa boon promoted to the rank of Paymaster Lieutenant-Commander.
