COMPENSATION SCHEME
FOR NAVIGATORS' DEPENDENTS.
■ The Minister of Marine (the Hon. T. M. Wilford) has approved of- the insertion of a clause iv the articles of all of the: Union Company's ships, to give the benefit of the Imperial compensation scheme for crews. This clause, to which the company, the Merchant Service Guild, and. the -Marine Engineers' Insti T tute have agreed, is :—"lt is • hereby 'agreed by and between the owners of the ship herein named and such of the members of the crew as may enter into these articles in New Zealand or Australia, that the provisions of the Imperial Board of Trade War Risks Compensation Scheme for Seamen shall be deemed,to be incorporated in and form partof these articles of agreement, and that' such members of the crew as aforesaid, or, in the case of death, their dependents, shall in; cases coming within' the terms of the said scheme be entitled to compensation iiv.accordance with, the'provisions of the said scheme.'!' .
