MILK CARDS

WHERE 'PUBLIC CO-OPERATION IS

NECESSARY.

Commencing from to-day, and by arrangement with the postal authorities, milk cards are being delivered to every house within the City of Wellington for the purpose of discovering the exact quantity of milk required by the occupiers. Residents are required to fill up their cards carefully, and later these will be called for by the postmen. The latter have been instructedi to deliver one card to each house, and it .is hoped that no house will be missed. As the cards are intended to form a permanent record, it is necessary that the cards should be properly filled in. The information gfVen will be used in the inauguration of the block system of delivery, and any Householder not returning a card is liable to be overlooked. Should there be any omissions on the part of the postmen after 10th September, residents are requested to apply at the Town Clerk's office for a card, to fill the same in. and to jetum it to the Town Clerk. As these cards form a very important part of the reform which it is hoped to introduce, the Special .Milk Committee states, through its chairman, that any assistance which the general public can give will be greatty appreciated. "It is not anticipated, " said Councillor' Norwood, "that a reform of such magnitude can be initiated without some little inconvenience on the first and second days, for even with very careful preparation there is bound to be some houses that will be missed. Residents will be advised through the press of the date of the proposed change, and it will be necessary that they should provide themselves with coupons, > which %vill be on sale at least fourteen days beforehand. Householders must note that the milk men will not be allowed to sell milk for cash or to sell coupons. Arrangements will be made for the sale of coupons at places likely to cause the least inconvenience."
