HERETAUNGA BOATING CLUB
The annual smoke concert of the Herctaunga Boating Club was held on Saturday evening at Petane. The chair was occupied by Mr. J. M'Dougall, cfcmmodore. The principal business of the evening was the presentation of prizes won during the year, which were as follow : —A' Class, - 18ft c.b. boats, grand aggregate WilfordjDup and blue ribbon, -Mr. Aldred's Irex ;A Class, 18ft c.b. boate, Hartley Cup, Mr. Harry Head's Nautilus ; crews' race, Mr. Blyth's Cup, Mr. Harry Head's Nautilus ; A Class 1, aggregate race, Mr. Anderson's trophy, Messrs. Boyd and Neill's Illinois; A Class, second _aggregate, Mr. Head's Nautilus trophy wffis' by, Mr. Aldred s Irex; A Class, third aggregate, Mr. Head's Irex trophy won by Irex ; A Class, fourth aggregate, Messrs. Boyd and Neili's Illinois trophy won by Mr. Head's .Nautilus; A Class, fifth aggregate, Mr. Neill's trophy won by Mr. Head's Nautilus; A Class, champion pennant, won by Illinois; E Class, Wfb c.b. boats, Committen's Challenge Cup, won by Mr. Colquhoun's Gil Bias, second prize to Committee's Challenge Cup, Mr. G. A. M'Donald's tropiiy, won by Messrs. Scott and Holiday's Mahau; Thorndon Dinghy Club's Cup, won by Mahau and Gil Bias, who tied, each to hold the prize for six'months ; first aggregate race, Ceisha and Gil Bias trophy won by Mahau; second aggregate. Mr. Thornton's trophy, won by Gil Bias; third aggregate, Mr. Eowe rs trophy, won by Geisha; fourth aggregate, club trophy, won by Mahau; fifth aggregate race, Mr. Blythe's trophy, won by Gil Bias; B Class, champion pennant, won by Gil Bias. The prizes were presented by tho Mayor (Mr. E. W. M'Ewnn). Song's were contributed by Messrs. Medliurst and Maud. Mr. Head presided at the piano. Messrs. W. Parrant and W. T. Jenkins attended to the refreshments.
