CHINA AND THE VATICAN
ANI APPOINTMENT CANCELLED,
NEW YORK, 17th August.
The New York Times Pekin correspondent states that the Chinese Government has cancelled the appointment of its Minister to the Vatican. The Minister, who had reached Madrid, and was going to Rome, has been notified to return.
[It was reported last week from Pekin that the Chinese Government refused to receive Signor Petrelli, the recentlyappointed Papal Nuncio, who is an intimate friend of the German Foreign,; Minister, Yon Hintze.]
