LONDON, 11th June,

Lieutenant.Colonel H. G. Reid, D.5.0., AJ3.C, rejoined British Army, is struck off the strength of the N.Z.E.F.

Major (temporary Lieutenant-Colonel) H. C. Glendining, D.5.0., N.Z.S.C., is promoted Lieutenant-Colonel, vice Lieu-tenant-Colonel F. B. Sykes, D.5.0., R.A., who has rejoined the British Army. Lieutenant D. M. Eckhoff is granted the temporary rank of Captain, vice Captain (temporary Major) F. W. Reed, who is temporarily commanding a Battery. Captain A. A. M'Nab, N.Z. Engineers, Field Company, is transferred to the N.Z. Rifle Brigade. Captain F. E. Beamish, Auckland Puegiment, relinquishes the appointment of Quartermaster N.Z. Command Depot, but remains seconded while employed as 2nd in Command, N.Z. Command Depot, vice Major B. S. Jordan, Canterbury Regiment, accidentally killed. Captain Beamish is succeeded as Quartermaster at Codford by Captain C. H. Booth, Auckland Regiment.

Lieutenant A. H. Grierson, of the Ist Battalion, Auckland Regiment, is returning to New Zealand on duty furlough.

Lieutenant P. A. Elworthy (Timaru), who got his first commission in the Leinster Regiment, and afterwards transferred to the Life Guards, is now a Captain and is on Staff duty. Lieutenant A. Oakey, Auckland Regiment, has been declared unfit for service for twelve months.

Lieutenant W. C. Mackay and 2nd Lieutenant G. Hessell, Auckland Regiment, have the temporary rank of Captain.

Lieut. F. W. Wilson, M.0., Canterbury Regiment, is appointed bombing officer to the 2nd Brigade. Lieutenant J. Lumley, Canterbm'y Regiment, and Lieutenant C. T. Natusch, Wellington Regiment, have the temporary rank of captain while commanding a light, trench mortar battery. Lieutenant S. Simmers (M.M.), Otago Regiment, is appointed signal instructor to the 4th Brigade.

Lieutenant- K. Scott (M.C.), Otago Regiment, has the temporary rank of captain.

Lieutenant P. J. O'Dowd, Wellington Regiment, is now quartermaster at the Isolation Camp at Larkhall, and Captain C. N. Rabone is adjutant. Major H. Holderness is promoted lieutenant-colonel, to command the late Lieutenant-Colonel Cook's battalion of the Wellington Regiment. Captain A. S. Muir (Gisborne) has been acting with a British formation, and now has a staff post with the New Zealand Division.

Lieutenant - Colonel J. G. Roache has been declared unfit for general ser\yice for twelve months, and has accordingly handed over the command of the sth Battalion, the Rifle Brigade, to Lieutenant-Colonel E. Puttick.

Lieutenant A. Bongard, M.C., of the ftifle Brigade, is appointed intelligence officer to the brigade; Lieutenant R. Goldsman, musketry officer; and Lieutenant G. W. Monce, bombing offleer. Lieutenants C. J, H. Davidson, M.C., and H. M. Keesin^, M,C, are promoted captains in the Rifle Brigade. Lieutenant A. J. M. Manson, M.C., is appointed instructor at the Machine Gun Reserve Depot. Major J. B. Whyte, of the N.Z.A.S.C, is unfit for general service for twelve months, and is succeeded in command of his company by Captain F. H. Anderson, M.0., lately adjutant to the Divisional Train. Captain J. J. Wass becomes adjutant. The position of A.A. and Q.M.G. to the New Zealand Division rendered vacant by the re-transfer of LieutenantColonel H. G. Reid, D.5.0., to the British Army, is filled by the appointment of Major H. E. Avery, D.S.O. Captain D. E. Fenwick, N.Z.M.C., becomes registrar and officer in charge of the Medical Division at Brockenhurst, in place of Major Bowerbank, -who is now S.M.O. at the base.

The following postings of medical officers are approved : — Captain W. C. M'Caw, from sick, aiid Capoam S. C. Allen, from reinforcements, to No. 2 N.Z. General; Captain M. B. M. Tweed, from No. 2 N.Z. General .to N.Z. Convalescent Hospital; Captain J. D. Marks, from Base Depot to the Division; Captain A. N. M'Kelvey, from the Rifle Brigade Reserve to the Base Depot; Captain 8. H. Ward, from No. 3 Field Ambulance to Ist Batt. Rifle Brigade; Captain R. H. Baxter, M.C., from Ist Batt. Rifle Brigade to No. 1 Field Ambulance; Captain R. J. Rogers, from Reinforcements Camp, France, to 2nd Entrenching Batt. ; Captain L. H. Whetter, from No. 2 Field Ambulance to No. 3 Field Ambulance; Captain T. A. Milroy, from Reinforcements to No. 3 N.Z. General.

Captain J. M. Turner, of the Dental Corps, goes to Queen's Hospital, Sidcup, in place of Major J.. N. Rish\vorth, who has been appointed DeputyDirector of Dental Services.

The following postings of chaplains are approved : —Rev. -M. Mullineux, from the Reinforcement Camp, France, to the 2nd Entrenching Batt.; the Rev. T. B. ■Segrief, from the Ist Batt. Wellington Rgt. to the 3rd Entrenching Batt; the Rev. E. E. Maiden, from 4th Infantry Brigade to Rifle Brigade Reserve Depot; the Rev. H. 0. Money, from sick, to command depot; the Rev. 0. A. Mallett, from Rifle Brigade Reserve Depot to Base Depot. The following have been nominated by General Godley for the month of May for temporary Imperial commissions :— Sergeant J. C. Boyd, Rifle Brigade; Corporal G. Palmer, M.G.C.; Driver G. H. D. M'Leod, N.Z.F.A. ; Artificer M. Shaw, N.Z.A.S.C.; Corporals F. P. Bartley and B. F. Moore, tunnellers.

LONDON, 14th June. Captain Arthur Coningham, D.5.0., M.C., of the R.A.F. (Wellington) ,_ is now gazetted squadron-commander with the rank of major. He is one of the most successful of New Zealandl airmen.

A New Zealander serving in H.M.A.S. Australia is Stoker E. Moran.

Mr. J. Stewart, of Thames, came to England three years ago and enlisted in King Edward's Horse, with whom he has been at the front now for two years. He was recently slightly wounded. Lieutenant-Colonel P. Haselden, of the 7th South African Infantry (formerly of Wanganui), is at present in London. Before the war he was practising law at .Barberton, South Africa, and ho served in the German South-West campaign with the Barberton commando, which was largely responsible for the capture of De Wet. * During the operations Major Haselden was severely wounded. He has since been promoted to command his battalion. Mrs. Haselden was Miss Hilda Ladley (formerly of Nelson). Captain A. E. M&ruack, B.A.M.C. (Auckland), is promoted major while specially employed. Dr. Marsack got his commission in the B.A.M.C. early in 1915.

Lieutenant-Colonel G. A. M. Buckley, D.S.O. (Ashburton), of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, has been appointed to command an officer cadet battalion. Colonel Buckley got his D.S.O. in_ 1916 for leading a battalion of the Leinster Regiment with great courage and determination.
