LONDON, 15th August. Sir Douglas Haig reports : Severe local fighting resulting to our advantage occurred on Wednesday night east of Ramecourt, and the line was advanced slightly in this neighbourhood. A British patrol rushed a post north of Albert. Between Albert and Ayette (12 miles north of Albert) our patrols were active all night, and maintained "lose. touch with th« enemy. Further progress was made at a number of points, and prisoners and machine-guns were taken. We repulsed raiders during the night southeast of Arras and near Merville (north of Bethune). The enemy's artillery was active east of Robecq and in the Scherpenberg sector (south of Ypres)* and Tabal.
