ZEEBRUGGE HEROES
VICTORIA CROSSES'FOR NAVAL MEN. (AUS. AND N.Z. CABLE ASSN. AND REUTER.) LONDON, 23rd July. The following awards of the Victoria Cross in connection with the attack on Zeebrugge on 22nd and 23rdApril axe gazetted: — Captain Carpenter, commander of the Vindictive. Lieutenant Sandford, commander of Submarine C 3. Lieutenant Dean, commander of motor launch.
Captain Bamford, Marino . Infantry, commander of one of the landing parties. Sergeant Finch, Marine Artillery, second ill command of the pompoms and Lewis guns on the Vindictive. Abler Seaman M'Kenzie, member of the storming party. Detaik of the awajds show that each displayed heroic self-sacrificing bravery at critical moments. \
