OVER TWENTY VILLAGES RECAPTURED

-.■_"•..-'.,:■■■ 'LONDON, 18th July. A, French communique says; We .attacked this morning from the region of J Jfontenoy (on the Aisne) as. far as the region of Belleau (on the Marne). We ! advanced at certain points from two to three thousand yards, and took prisoners. •; There was no change during the night on the Marne and in the Champagne. ;. South-west of Manteuil-le-Fosse we stopped a violent enemy attack, and north 1 of Prosnes an attack by enemy Guard troops failed completely.

(Received July 20, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 19th July. A French communique states : Starting from, the front Amblemy-Longpont-Troesnes-Bouresches, we advanced considerably into the enemy lines, and reached the plateau commanding Soissons on the south-west and the region of Chaudin.. Violent fighting is going on between Viller'shelong and Noroy-sur-Ourcq. The troops south of the Ourcq have passed the general line of MarizySt. Genevieve, Hautevesnes, and Belleau. Over twenty villages have been recaptured, and several thousand prisoners and important booty taken. Nothing important has occurred elsewhere. An American communique states : The American, troops, co-operating with the French between the Aisne and the Marne, penetrated the enemy lines to a depth of several miles, capturing many prisoners and guns.
