Very cold weather continues to be experienced throughout the Wairarapa.Fortunately, very few lambs have yet made their appearance. • The-Featherston Miniature Rifle Club defeated Masterton in a match for -'the Er|gnell. A draft of recruits left Masterton for camp yesterday morning.
The brown trout ova collection has proved very poor in the Masterton district this year. The curator states that the recent big flood in the Waapoua Riyer, which was being netted, proved disastrous, tfnly 35,000 brown trout ova. being collected.; A consignment of 150,000 rainbow trout ova has been procured from'Rotorua,' and already 60,000 haVe arrived. The curator of the fishponds, who lias been called up for active seiwice, ' will" commence the distribution of trout next month.
