DUNEDIN, This Day,

At the Police Court to-day, Thomas Padraie Cummins and Albert James O'Ryan were jointly charged in that they caused to be published in a newspaper called the Green Ray a seditious utterance, which was seditious in that it was caused to bo published by defendants with intention to excite disaffection against tho Government of the United Kingdom, and to encourage the commission in the United Kingdom of an offence prejudicial to public safety in respect of the present war, to wit, the crime of treason and the levying of war against His Majesty. Cummins admitted writing the article, but pleaded not guilty to the charge of sedition. O'Ryan pleaded guilty to publishing, but not to sedition, and the case was adjourned till next Wednesday. The article which formed the basis of the charge dealt with Ireland.
