MASTER/TON, This .Day. ' During the past year, the Masterton A. and P. Association received a sum of £808 in members' subscriptions. The membership of the_ Wairarapa group of the Returned Soldiers' Association now stands at 215. A sum of £125 lls was taken at the Masterton patriotic shop on Saturday, in aid of the V.M.C.A. Trench Comforts Fund. A young man named C. Trudgeon sustained a fracture of the jaw through being thrown from a bicycle on the Opakiroad. Over £30 was taken at the gates of the Carterton show grounds on Saturday, when the representative football match between Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay was played. The N.Z. Hereford Cattle Breeders' Association has advised the Masterton A, and P. Association that it has allotted two goI3 medals for competition at the next 6how. .. ■ Mr. Alfred Matthews, the well-known Romney breeder of the Lower Valley, has just despatched a number of his stud 1 stock to the United States. While proceeding to Greytown on a motor cycle on Saturday last, Mr. W. K. Walton, builder, of Masterton, met with an accident. His injuries were so severe that he was admitted to the Greytown Hospital for treatment. Mr. James Toomath has been elected to succeed the late Mr. E. Flanagan as secretary to the Wairarapa Drivers' Union. Mr. C. Grayndler, of the Rural Workers' Union, addressed the rural workers I in Masterton on Saturday night.
