SOUTHERLY STORM LIKELY
Atmospheric pressure continues very low, but hns increased everywhere during the night. South-westerly .'gnles are reported in parts, with squally conditions, and heavy showers. Snow is reported in the high lands and in the southernmost districts of the South Island. The forecast is for a rising barometer everywhere, and warnings for southerly gales are signalled from all the chief lighthouses. Cold and showery conditions are likely generally, with snow on the higher levels, and hail and sleet in tho south.
Miss I. Drummoml was last evening appointed to the temporary position of junior clerk tt> the Petone Borough Council. The appointment of Assistant Town Clerk was held over pending an interview with one of the candidates. It was stated that the Town Clerk (Mr. Gardner) had received an extension of time before being required to enter upon hiV military duties.
