There is an interesting story to be told about the captured German field gun which will figure in the Union Jack "drive" at Kiibirnie to-morrow, but a part only can be told and the rest must bo inferred. . The gun was captured on 17th June last by the 2nd Cheshire Reffiment and presented to the New Zealanders. Apparently just as the gun sent its last shell, roughly a fifteen-pounder, over to the British lines, a British or French shell exploded very close to it, for the gun is jammed'-hard, in the recoil position and all efforts to run the barrel forward have failed. On the same day a similar gun was captured by the Otago Regiment and,was sent out to New Zealand. This gun, however, is so badly damaged that it cannot be used in the procession,
