SPORTSMAN'S BANKRUPTCY
FAILURE OF CONTRACTS WITH
GERMANY.
, _ _ SYDNEY, 20th February. - Giving evidence in the Bankruptcy Court, Harry Nathan, a well-known Sydney racehorse owner and sportsman, attributed his bankruptcy •chiefly to contracts made before the war with the German Government to purchase blood stock for stud purposes. Just before the war he expended between £9000 and £10,000 in this way,' but the w,av prevented delivery. Failing to get the prices he paid, he thought he would make them pay by racing, but failed to do so. His purchases included a New Zealand horse for which he paid £1600 and which he soldi to the German Government for £4500.
