Conveyance of children to schools in scattered country districts is one of the many matters to which Education Boards have to attend. At to-day's meeting of the Wellington Board, the secretary reported a discussion with the Director of i Education *on the question. The board had pointed out that the Departmental grant was insufficient'in many cases, as contractors could not be found to undertake the work. The director had agreed to consider exceptional cases, but had stated that the allowance was a grant in aid, and was not expected to cover the whole cost. He would, however, con-, sider the whole matter, and communicate with the Minister. Mr. B. A. Wright, remarked that this was another indication that the grants for educational purposes were insufficient. The board had only a very' small surplus, and out of it there were very .numerous demands to' be met. ■ .'_■■•; ' t% At the Lower Hutt Police Court today, J.
