| ENEMY ATTEMPTS TO RECOVER LOST GROUND
LONDON, 18th February. A French official communique states : There is violent- artillery firing in the region of Verdun. Wo repulsed an enemy attack on the positions we captured on 13th February at Butta ehl Mesnil. i LONDON, 19th February. , A French official communique states: A second attack "this afternoon on our positions south-west of the fiutte dv Mesnil was broken by 6m 1 fire before reaching the lines. The morning attack was made by three battalions. The enemy everywhere was repelled with heavy losses. _ Air activity continues. We dropped thirteen tons of explosives in the Metz region, causing several fires and explosions. (Beceived February 20, 8.30 a.m.) , _ LONDON igtbr'Februftry. Alrench communique states: There was violent artillery fire during the night in. the region south of the forest of St. Gobain, .in the sector of ChavigCQH> and north-west of Bezoxwaux.
