TO-NIGHT'S ORGAN RECITAL.
An organ recital will be given this evening by the City Organist (Mr. Bernard F. Page), at 8.15 o'clock, in the Town Hall. A work of special interest is to be performed for the first time in Wellington. It was written by Alex. Guilmant, the distinguished organist and composer, whose many works are familiar to most people. The work is the Second Symphony for Organ by this composer, an#l is classified as the Bth Sonata for Organ by Guilmant. It is the finest wofk for the organ written by this great French organist, and one that is sadly neglected. Another item of special interest will be the " Peer Gynt " Suite by Grieg, a work which is now a universal favourite. An Andante by Wolstenliolme, the beautiful slow movement by Debussy's String Quartette, also the Prelude, Fugue, and Variation by Cesar Franck, complete a programme of music of such varying styles that it should at"tract a large audience to hear it rendered by the City Organist.
