WELLINGTON'S FERRY SERVICE

At the Eastbourne Borough. Council meeting the report iqf .the \E]erry Board was read. It stated ,that the returns for January compared' very favourably with .last' year, "notwithstanding the unsettled weather.that was,experienced in Wellington at the-beginning of- the] month. The receipts amounted to £2271, as against £1927 for last year, while tha expenses for the same period t were £94 more. The question of acquiring either am auxiliary scow or a small oil-driven, vessel fop the carriage of cargo was discussed. The. Mayor reported that enquiries had recently been made with, a view to. securing a suitable vessel, and several offers were at present under consideration.

It was decided to replace the present style of weekly tioket with one that ■will be punched each time the holder travels. As in the case of th»,present ticket, the new ticket will be available from Monday to Sunday in each week.
