HIGH-HANDED GERMAN ACTION
VIOLATION OF SPANISH
TERRITORY.
(AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) MADRID, 15th February. A wireless^ message states that a German submarine crew boarded the boats containing the crew rescued from the Ceferino (which was sunk by a German submarine).and landed on the island of Hierro, in the Canaries. • They demanded the delivery of two Germans domiciled in the town. The Mayor replied that they were interned in Tenerjffe. The Mayor and another official were conveyed on board the submarine as hostages while the Germans telegraphed to Tcneriffo. They were liberated when the internment was confirmed. ' '■
