PARAMOUNT THEATRE.

A three-star programme received its initial screening at the Paramount Theatre to-day, and it should be very popular all next week. First,'-there is "The Varmint," featuring Jack Pickford. The picture is a dramatisation of Owen Johnston's well-known story •of love, youth, boarding-school, and the making of a man. Jack Pickford's work is favourably * known to picture-theatre patrons, and in this production the young actor is; said to eclipse all previous performances. The scenes and settings, have evidently received special attention. The second of ■ the attractions is the first Mack Sennett comedy to be shown in ■ New Zealand. It is entitled "The Pullman Bride," and according to the claims made by the producers, strikes a new note in comedy work, intensely humorous, and ' calculated to dispel the heaviest' gloom. Ths third attraction is also the first of a new series. It is one of the famous Burton Holmes tra.velogues, and is entitled "West Point, the Gibraltar of the Hudson," describing the site and surroundings of ihe United States Military Academy. •
